Thankfully, there hasn't been much going on!
Starting at 34 weeks the weather here got really hot and humid and I started swelling in my feet and ankles (praise Jesus we had 2 cool weeks after that). I actually started having contractions randomly throughout the days and was really crampy. They were Braxton Hicks (false labor) and were irregular, but they were still uncomfortable! The Dr. checked to make sure I wasn't going into labor at my appointment since my blood pressure was up with the pain. I was good. Since then the contractions have stopped completely.
Besides my poor swollen club feet and cankles making it hard to walk, I feel pretty good! If I weren't having a planned cesarean Saturday I would be one of those people who (miserably) went to 42 weeks pregnant. Babies never want to come out!
Milian's parents and big brother flew into the US on Monday. Well, actually Tuesday morning at 5am. Due to some layovers and delays they traveled 24 hours solid. I couldn't imagine! Especially, with a 3 year old!! As much as I was anxious and dying to see them, I gave them the first day to get their apartment together, grocery shop, and sleep. When I was talking to his mommy she said, "Well, we didn't know where to go and I remember you saying how much you liked Target so we went there and got bread, cheese, and a few things". Hahaha! Yes, I love Target! Too much.
I know I have been preparing for pregnancy and been pregnant forever...but it has FLOWN by. I can't believe that he will be here in the morning!!
Since Wednesday we have just been able to spend some quality time together. They were able to go with me on my last Dr. visit and meet my new doctor before the surgery and ask her any questions. We took our kids to their apartments pool, out to eat, to the trampoline park, etc. A couple from our church wanted to meet them for breakfast this morning, so that was just a really fun time.
My kids were so excited to see them! As were my husband and I! My (almost) 3 year old daughter has recently been obsessed with Milian. She gets confused when she sees other babies and will look at me and ask me if it's him. She keeps asking if he is sleeping, swimming, if he's hungry, etc. It's really odd behavior because she doesn't particularly like babies. At all. She avoids them like the plague! When I tell her, "Yes, you can hold him and he will be here really soon. His mommy, daddy, and brother are so excited to love him and get to take him home too" she says, "and I get Kindereggs!". So selfish! She was so excited that they brought her these Kinder surprise chocolate eggs (can't get them in the US). She literally equates chocolate to this baby.
Even with the language barrier, our kids have had so much fun together. Especially my daughter and their son since they are close to the same age. They are so cute. Kids really are great and don't seem to mind differences in people at all. It's really neat to watch them interact. I'm so glad that my kids have had the opportunity to be able to know them like family as well. Abram is older and understands more of what's going on. Today Norah said, "That's his mommy and daddy (pointing to their son)". I told her, "yes and Milian's mommy and daddy too". She says, "yeah and they get to take him home". So she's starting to get it. I do pray for my kids and their transition after the baby. I am so glad we have the summer to spend with them. I just honestly have no idea how they will handle it so i'm in prayer for that!
I think we are all a little nervous for tomorrow!! Nervous about the cesarean, making sure he's healthy, the hospital stay, recovery, etc. I have had so many people write me and say they are praying for us and the delivery and it just means so much. Just to know we have had this support throughout is amazing. The next update should be filled with baby pictures!!!!!
I'm physically ready to not be pregnant anymore. I'm kind of anxious about the cesarean, but more excited! I haven't been able to sleep in 2 weeks because I keep having dreams about what he's going to look like, too excited about his parents coming, and of course this big belly makes it hard.
Cravings:
Umm, food. All kinds of food. Alll day long. I really have just been hungry! Oh, and can I say a fresh margarita? Because i'm craving that too! I'm using this week to eat what I want and then next week i'll have just lettuce and water. Just kidding. Kind of.
